Dr. Ali recalls that he chose to specialize in cancer care because of the special bond he is able to develop with his patients. “The relationships that develop when you are helping someone through cancer treatments are unique,” Dr. Ali says. “I think it’s important to treat the whole person. To me that means considering the needs of patients and their families, the social impact of a cancer diagnosis and the potential financial issues that arise during treatment. Prescribing a treatment plan is the easy part. But a good cancer care provider does his or her best to treat the whole patient.”
As a further commitment to bringing cancer care close to home, Fauquier Hospital is expanding its Infusion Center, where hormonal therapy and chemotherapy are given.
“I love it here at Fauquier Hospital,” says Dr. Ali. “It undoubtedly provides a very nurturing environment for all my patients. The system-wide dedication to patient-centered care is well exemplified here. It takes a special model of care to work with cancer patients and their families. Clearly, Fauquier Hospital has the right people for this job.”
Dr. Ali stresses, “I believe in supportive care, a minimization of side effects from chemotherapy, and prevention of complications such as infections. Quality of life must be an integral part of any treatment considerations.”
Fauquier Health Hematology and Oncology is located on the first floor of Fauquier Hospital near the
front lobby. Dr. Ali can be reached at 540-316-4360.
